Meh. Digg. That place drives me nuts - mostly because, if you look at the comments attached to any given article, you'll see that the people who use digg seem to be prone to drama and flame wars, often completely igorant to the topic they are commenting on or current issues in general, and generally digging the same types of stories over and over and over again.

(How many "New to Linux" walkthrough articles do we really need to see on the front page? I swear there is at least one a week, if not more often).

At the end of the day though, whether it's rigged or not, whether it's controlled by a hiegharchy or not, I don't give a shit. Why? Because it's the effing internet.

IMHO: It's a free service, created entirely by some dudes who obviously have some sort of personal motive towards designing it as they see fit: whether it's financial, popularity seeking, or otherwise. They have no obligation to have a perfect system in place, nor do they have an obligation to appease the masses.

This is the most awesome thign about the internet: If you don't like it, just go elsewhere. Or make something different or better yourself. So many people use digg and constantly bitch about it. SO what? You're not paying for it. Digg owes you nothing. If they fuck up, oh well.

Maybe I'm just jaded from far too much forum modding, but on a micro scale, nothing on the internet will ever be a democracy, someone always controls the passwords, the url, the server space, etc.

To all the people calling out conspiracy theories, I say, unknot your panties and find something useful to worry/complain/speculate about.
