Polar Rose - A Photo Search Engine
Polar Rose is one of the more interesting takes on the technology of search engines that I’ve seen in quite some time. Rather than search websites, they will be employing facial recognition technology to allow people to search photos looking for a particular person.
It will apparently work for Flickr, 23, Kodak, and most other photo sites.
This is accomplished by releasing it as a browser plugin, presumably in the form of a Firefox extension and an IE7 one someday. While it has not yet been released, I have signed up to be notified when it is.
Details are sparse at the moment, but when there are more I expect to be informed. So you can expect some more information on this bee-yatch when it becomes as available as your mother was last night.
If nothing else, this will probably change the definition of ‘vanity search’.

YES!
A couple years back, I kept talking about this idea, hoping that it would come true.
I like getting what I want.
