Poll: How Many Flickr Views Do You Have?
I’ve long known that Flickr is the photo storage site of choice for my readers, but now I’m getting curious about other stats. This means poll time; completely unrelated to the fact that it’s Sunday, I’m lazy, and the headache I’ve had for the last four hours.
I’d like to know how many views everyone has on their Flickr account, if they’re willing to share:
This poll popped into my head because I passed 75,000 sometime in the last two weeks and it got me thinking about Flickr metrics. Of course,20,000 of those views are on two photos that have little in the way of artistic merit.
Other than those two, I don’t really know how visitors find me. Mostly through photo groups and my Livejournal, but I have had 18 photos in Flickr’s Explore at one time or another.
Where does the majority of your Flickr traffic come from? Do you know?

I just surpassed the 5,000 mark (woo hoo). Most of my views are generated at my Web site (which was at first a blog that occasionally featured my photos, but now has a subdomain for my Flickr photos), though a substantial amount is from Flickr contacts.

I’m way up to 1,347 — but then again, I’ve really just started using the site in the last month or so. I started uploading photos back in April, but I didn’t really make any efforts to get involved with anything — they just kind of sat there. Within the last month I’ve really started becoming more involved, so we’ll see how things improve. Also, one of my photos accounts for 885 of the views because it was used (under the creative commons) at the top of an article that hit the front page of digg.
Much of the recent traffic to my photos is being driven from my blog because I started including a link from my photo posts (should have been doing that a long time ago). Other than that, I have no idea where people come from — I don’t really post to any groups or participate in a lot of discussions (which I plan on doing in the near future). My guess is that some people arrive via Flickr searches.

I am up over 30k now, and as far as I know most of my traffic comes from submitting photos to groups.
Also, 30k seems like a lot right up until I think about some friends of mine who have hundreds and hundreds of thousands of views. They’re all girls who model or photographers who take photos of girls who model. I THINK I SEE A PATTERN!!@!!121!@!!! OMWTFBBQKTHXBI!!

A stunning 52 views. I have just started using Flickr, but have mostly showed off my pictures to friends and family. I have not done anything to increase the traffic.

I only have around 800 views, but I just started using the site in mid july and still only have less than 50 contacts. I’d say my views are a mix of contacts, people from groups and randoms. I generally don’t like the invite only communities that much; i’ll add my photo if i’m invited, but won’t participate much there. There are just too many of those places to keep up.
Oh yeah, I suppose it really depends on what sort of photography you do. Shots with pretty models or stuff that’s humorous will probably get more than artistic photos.

I have 228! w00t! That could be because I only recently signed up…

almost 400 - nobody loves me :-( probably because I haven’t joined many groups, and don’t tend to put my photos up in those I have. Given that it averages about 2 views per photo, I guess that means I have two friends on flickr!

I am using the since January and so far I have 266 photos / 5,947 views.
they are not a lot and coming most from my contacts.

Almost at the 1600 mark, only had it for 4 months though.
Most of it comes from the flickr friends feed emails, or me telling people to go look at my latest and greatest.
Probably a good chunk come from the facebook flickr app when I post an update, and there’s some from the eclipse photos I took that generated quite a few views.

I’ve got 8000+ views on my photo stream, which I’ve noticed is lower than the number of views on my photos. My guess is most of the traffic came as a result of this set of the man being burned 5 days early at burningman - http://flickr.com/photos/focalintent/sets/72157601716712592/detail/ - if i add up the views on the pictures in that set, there’s a total of 11,098 just from that one set. (it probably helped that I uploaded those pictures roughly 30 minutes after it happened - that said, it felt weird to be online from the playa - I didn’t like it much, and probably won’t do it again :)
Also - thank you for the testimonial! With work and burningman prep i was very behind on a lot of things. (For myself, i’m finding that it’s hard to come up with a good testimonial)

Thank you, everyone, for participating!
I admit that I’m a little surprised with the results. I expected that I’d be on the lower end of the spectrum with 75k, but it seems that I’m in one of the higher echelons. Keep in mind, I have been on flickr for 2 or 3 years now and that factors in quite a bit.
I may do a followup post on this about how to increase your flickr photo views.
